The sale barn we sell fats at now doesn't seem to discount much as long as the cattle are nicely finished. Often the ones that I've seen with horns aren't well finished such as the guys with Scottish highlander cattle that they raise on grass on a hobby farm. If they are Holstein calves, you know they will get big horns. Fix the problem now unless you're going to sell them as feeders and don't mind taking a discount on them. Have a vet burn them around the buttons if you don't like doing it. Waiting til the horns are big is a lot riskier and requires a sturdy headgate with a head table to firmly hold the animal's head. We only use polled bulls now.
