Iowa | New to strip till. I'm planning on normally doing it in the fall, but bought a Krause Gladiator in December. Since it's been so dry and warm I'm planning on stripping ahead of my corn this spring. I do a corn soybean rotation. Before soybeans I no-till a few sandy areas and the majority just do a spring pass with a vertical till and plant 15in rows.
In the past for P and K I've had the coop do two year spreads or one year spreads mostly depending on current fertilizer prices. Would I be able to get away with putting a two year spread in the strip and not have to spread ahead of soybeans next year? Im mainly worried about too much fertilizer in the strip hurting the corn. If I kept my current rates, a two year spread would be something like 110lbs P and 140lbs of K and 15ishlbs of sulfur in the strip. Im using a shank machine putting it 6-8in deep.
