Sulfate leaches slower than nitrate.  Elemental S does not leach, need 70 degree soil temp for it to be converted to sulfate at a good rate.

Apply AMS for needs before soil reaches 70 degrees and Elemental S for later crop use.  May want AMS to provide 1 to 4 weeks of sulfate after soils reach 70 degrees, to give time for elemental to be converted.
