EC SD | These seasonal charts are a good starting point for a marketing plan, but every year is different of course.
I try to spread sales out throughout the year, but don't go so far as to make a small sale every week or every month. Nothing wrong with those weekly/monthly marketing plans though and I have heard they work fine for some.
Mostly I make regular sales from mid-March to mid-June to clean out last harvest and pre-sell what I am comfortable with for the season ahead. Then there are some years when I make additional sales off-the-combine - when I feel the price is good enough that it is just not worth storing. Sometimes we get a nice rally in late Dec or early Jan, and then I reward that rally with some additional sales. | |
