The need to run cows through a chute must be a regional thing. My cows have never been through a chute. no corral or any facilities really. Took the dog to the vet yesterday. She said she’d like to take a look at my cows. I said why? I lose one calf out of 40 every other year. Sometimes go three four years without losing any. Cows grow good calves till they are twenty years old. All those things the industry tells you we “have to do” aren’t always necessary.

Wait until you get red water... Running cows through the chute twice a year isn't a big deal. A 40 cow herd would take a little over an hour.
