The last couple years, fall cover crops were irrigated to get then to germinate. Got established, grew in the spring and sucked precious more moisture out of the soil. Makes one wonder....
You have to really wonder about the whole cover crop thing when you're in an area that is traditionally short on water. Like most things that the govt pushes, they're trying to make their chosen solution be the right fix for every problem.
