Most likely risk management with regards to their short positions. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being bullish and 1 bearish, them buying calls, but not buying back their shorts would be a 6-6.5. They feel there is risk of it going up but not enough risk to get out of their shorts. Low volatility with lower price makes for “cheap” calls to cover their upside risk.
Anyone buying calls?
