I do not think that anyone has said that a PGR adds to the overall yield.
It does contribute to better standability which allows a higher fertilizer rate.
This can add to the overall yield.
Seems like,
A PGR is usually only recommended when yields are expected to be higher than 100 BPA
And nitrogen rates are higher than 120# per acre.
