I'm curious why add 200lbs more potash? He's at nearly 4% base saturation on K. I've grown 90+ bu beans on a 2% base saturation of K with no extra potassium.


Because 65 Bu beans remove 195# potash.

Since he’s at 4% base sat (which is great) no reason in letting it move.


I use to farm that way too. 5 years ago I changed and have only been applying 50 lbs of potash every year. My potassium numbers have not dropped according to my grid samples. Most soil has 20k ppm potassium in it, we just need to find a way to make it available to the plant. Go sample a native pasture that's been grazed but never had commercial P&K applied to it. Find a way to replicate that nutrient cycling system in your row crop system.
