South Eastern VA | White, (ladino) clover has Sitwell for me and holding up to traffic.
I think “Durana” is another I often hear about now. I see it talked about when it comes to food plots for deer and turkeys. Supposedly it spreads and holds up to shade and traffic.
There is a big movement in people trying to find alternatives to growing regular grass in the home landscape and white clover is always mentioned as a good alternative.
Crimson clover is a good choice for cover crops. It grows well in the fall and grows crazy when spring comes around. I use it on my crop ground though, not sure how it does with foot or mower traffic.
I should also mention that I have really mild winters so pretty much all of the clover varieties do well, as in no winter kill. We typically plant clover close to fall around here.
I had radishes and oats survive this winter. We didn’t get enough HARD frosts to kill them. Luckily they are easy to get rid of though.
