Western, New York | Not Hedge but I put a high tensile fence in with a bunch of old black locust post with my milwaukee stapler. I started using 1-3/4" staples and it seems like the shock from the gun would bounce the post a little and the staples wouldnt seat as far as id like them too. I switched to 1-1/2" staples and pulled back on the top of the post as i hit them and its helped alot....still way faster and easier than doing them with a hammer and you dont have to worry about beating the hell out of the top of the staple. You can also play around with the staple depth control on gun which helps.
