west central Iowa | We used to have problems with large seed causing excess drag in the row unit of the 7000. I think it was around 16% reduction of population. This was a dry spring and ground was dry and fluffy. So tire was sliding a little as ground packed underneath it. We put a treaded tire on planter and that seemed to help.
If seed is very large, check to see if finger opens up enough to grab a seed. We always had good luck planting seed in the 60’s #/ 80,000. | |
