Subject: Carbon Intensity/Section 45Z tax credit

South Dakota
I don't know a lot about this aside from seeing articles discussing the 45Z tax credit for biofuel producers and how farmers should be getting their Carbon Intensity score (carbon footprint to produce a bushel of grain). Growers can receive a premium/bushel based on their CI score due to the biofuel producers getting 45Z tax credits by consuming bushels scored below the industry standard. 45Z looks like it will be available come 1/1/25.

This is not the same as all the companies wanting to pay you for carbon credits.

So has anyone signed up with anyone to get their CI score and doing this? How do you know if biofuel producers are partnered in this? Do they pay the premium? For example, if you have a CI score at the estimated industry standard, maybe there is no premium and your bushels are worth to them what anyone else's are?

I see topsoil.ag by Continuum Ag (Mitchell Hora) as one place to get your CI scores.
