Not to take away from the concern, but I challenge the math a bit Chris. So a 29"X 5 inch =145 Cubic inches in the top inch of surface. You are saying the tire loses .78 inches of tire on the surface. Most tires only have about .6 inches of tread and are replaced when at .1 inches of tread left. Add in that most all tires have groves which probably makes up 30% of the surface. I would say you need to cut that number in have on passenger tires, but 113 cubic inches lost on truck tires is realistic.
