Is he wrong? Yes, HOWEVER what do most non farmers believe? Go read any ag story from any news outlet, then read the comments, the general perception is that you are a corporate mega farmer, farming half the county, with no regard for the environment or animals. You are killing the earth for your own profit. I don’t agree with a thing he said, but I gaurentee he will pick up votes specifically because of this. The average city person thinks farmers should drive a narrow front tractor, cultivate 4 rows at a time and live on the same income as they did in 1950. In their world a “farmer” files a schedule f, but has a 1/4 acre garden, a “corporate farmer” drives a tractor and they have to slow down for them whenever they actually venture into rural areas. Even among my politically moderate relatives, once they’re middle class they buy based off “environmentally friendly, sustainable, green, organic”.
