Maybe. That ship is large. Would depend a lot on the wind direction. Tugboats might have been able to divert it some if they had time. They just couldn't get there fast enough.
I think I heard this morning that the ship did call for tugboat assistance but it all happened in 5 minutes or less.
I would like to know how they shut down the bridge quick enough to get the traffic off the bridge. Looked like just State patrol cars showed up and stopped traffic but how did they get there that quick? Did the bridge have cross arms to stop traffic?
