Subject: RE: Phosphorus Placement in relation to corn seed?

Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska
Phosphorus needs to be available to the early roots that come out so it needs to be placed somewhere near the seed, preferably along or below or to the side and below the seed. Dribbling on top would have very limited affect. I’m not sure about what happens if you’re mixing N with the phosphorus and dribbling on top. The theory of phosphorus moving down with the nitrogen might happen but it might also be too late getting to the plant. That could be an example of selling the farmer something that is easy to do so the farmer goes with it.
