Kingston,Mi | If you can find one, a Gravely either a L model (flathead engine built by Gravely) or a Commercial 10 or 12 (Kohler)with a rotary plow and the 30 inch tiller will do a nice job. They turn rather well since the drive has a differential. I have one of each and started to use an earlier Model L when I was 10 or 12 years old. The rotary plow will work about 6 inches deep using 4 blades spaced around a vertical shaft and shears the soil from the furrow wall, generally the plow is tilted to the left and discharges to the right.
Gravelys are obsolete but never or seldom worn out. Hitting a large rock with the plow will cause it to suddenly move away from the rock. | |
