1000 rpm works good on a fluffy load like that. Gets full pto speed and still keep your engine rpm down.
How’s that possible?
If the driveline is 540 RPM, swap the knuckles on the end and put a 1000 RPM end on it. If you have a digital readout on the tractor to see PTO RPMs, you can set the PTO speed to ~540 and your engine will run much slower and take less fuel. Did that on a TMR, spreader and bale processor. Takes significantly less fuel that way when mixing a TMR or processing a bale at 12-1300 engine RPMs. .
If anyone else runs it, let them know ahead of time how it works so they don't assume it needs full throttle. Works best if you don't have an "everything-must-be-floored" mentality.
