Very pleased with the guidance, seed monitoring and application control investments that have been made on our families farm (<800 acres tillable). Yes, would like to have more sections on the sprayer boom and individual row control on the planter, but it’s better than before adding precision. To be honest, most of the upgrades have been done during dealer specials along with collecting up used components and piecing together systems.

Where this approach falls short is making decisions on tech upgrades such as hydraulic downforce. 1666 making a statement to this is further validation that it’s likely our next move. IMO hesitation comes back to a pair of issues. First off is the brand we started and have stuck with (aligns with 2010’s comment) isn’t one of the two major player in the downforce technology market. Sure hoping the joint venture leads to rapid integration. Secondly, data gathering and records to make the decision just aren’t our strength. To justify the downforce investment requires better scouting and records. So, the wish we’d done it earlier would be more thorough scouting and records to help with precision investments. We’re looking hard into solving this now. Like the advanced features of online linked to app, but really fearful of locking into a platform where that for us is $3+/ac./yr with the chance features we use will only be available if we move up to the next subscription level. Experiencing that scenario this year with seed and chemicals inventory feature.
