4240 displays and both G5 Universal and G5 Plus Universal displays can connect to wifi via a USB adapter such as this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008IFXQFU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_...
This has been discussed on previous threads and works very well

I'm trying to find some documentation as to whether Data Sync functions the same via wifi or JDLink ; Hopefully a corporate Deere employee will chime in here

I'm not sure how to do it with WIFI because the G5 doesn't have built in WIFI. I assume since you can see the Wi-Fi connection you must have one of the USB Wi-Fi devices plugged in? If you login to your operation center click on the setup tab at the top. then select data sync. It should show your device there and whether or not data sync is enabled. If its not enabled click on the checkmark beside the device and at the top right select enable.
