North of London | No beaver in that picture just debris that stuck there when water was high.
Not too bad this year but some big floods overtop the bridge and if railings are still on the debris catches and it rolls the bridge off the slabs it is is on.
Then we have to use loader and chain to lift it up again and fish railings out of water.
It is all a creek named Flat Creek which is a tributary of the Thames River and is fairly deep under the bridge but not a pond.
At some time in history owners of that land had a bridge, probably built with logs felled while clearing land, and built out rock piers to mount it on.
We just reused the original base piers but reused some concrete floor I tore out of a barn to build it up a little higher so fewer floods pushed bridge over.
We do have beaver from time to time but their chosen location for a dam is upstream from bridge right below where I have a stoned in crossing for tractor to access the far side of creek.
Every few years they try building a dam right beside the crossing and attached pics are from last falls effort.
Not enough brush available for them so they tried using corn from the field beside the creek and I cleared it out with loader.
Nice to have a rock bottom in the creek.
Some pics of clearing it and I grabbed a couple screen shots from a little video I shot while pushing it out.
There was a little 'island' of grass growing on a clump that they used to help anchor there dam and last fall I was able to push it out too so maybe they will pick a different location next time.
