Not what you usually think of, but reed canary is suggested as being tolerant of light soils also, and will produce as much or more than any grass out there with enough N. Biggest drawback is it's very slow to establish, and the quality if you can't get to it until it's overgrown, but that shouldn't be as big a problem on lighter drier soil.
