Northeast Missouri | Had 7200 and 1760 planters on a 4020 and 4240. I always have had to hold the remote lever in down or lift position until it was fully lowered or raised. Planter frame and independent markers. I have never seen anything written about operating the planter in float position. The planters have multiple cylinders that are phased together to keep planter bar level.
