Turned the first group of recip cows on grass this morning with the clean up bull. I believe we are gonna be about 72% conception on them which is about our average for spring calving cows.
Spring has been rather cool and wet this year, but the grass appears to be growing well. I put 50 units of Nitrogen and 100 units of Potash on my pasture back in March and we got 4” of rain on it. I also sprayed Milestone and 2-4D on it about 2 weeks ago. This pasture has been a project to get it to a point where I think I can spread some clover on it, and I think we are just about ready. I’m going to try some seeding some Garrison Creeping Foxtail in a few places that the fescue doesn’t want to catch.
