Subject: RE: Step Extender / JD 8400

Between Omaha and Des Moines, 7 miles South of I80

I have on a 2002 JD8410. Note: I really like having an additional lower step.

I bought the actual additional JD step, from John Deere; but I felt their "side brackets" were much too expensive. I bought some straight steel "mending brackets" from hardware store and made my own "side extenders" .

Now, doing dirt work, with 9.5 cu yd. dirt scraper  I've bend them.

I now feel, I might be better with some rubber side straps, like used on some lower JD combine steps= those shoud be able to flex, a little, if they rubbed up against some dirt, in a windrow.

Von, found an old picture of mine step.

Thanks , Von
