In Northern Indiana a pork "Tenderloin" sandwich comes pretty close to being a "schnitzel". It is various cuts of meat pounded very thin and the breaded well and fried. I think the Wiener Schnitzel uses veal. Good artery plugging German/Austrian food. But it does taste good.
We have a German restaurant locally that has schnitzel.
