Was if nothing else very level headed and able to go with the flow.
The AF that I was in was very results orientated. True we did have an oppressed minority who felt slighted, and they were usually navigators. The thing about the AF was to become the man in charge you really needed to be a pilot, navigators need not apply.
That did not bother this young man. He did marry into a very traditional Jewish family, but I am not at all sure how he dealt with his In-Laws.
Another Navigator on a different crew that I was on was in the job because he liked what he was doing. He made more off family investments than the AF was paying him. That family wanted him to come home and enter business, but he was just not interested.
At least the Flight Crews were very relaxed, as long as your were stressed out doing your job.
