drift happens in very small increments over a period of time,because of satellite movement across the sky.

If you are jumping 10" all at once it sounds more like you lost satellites temporarily.

Also if you record coordinates when making your strips and can't follow them in the spring with just occasional shift track you have other problems which most likely is due to implement draft.
