Pennsylvania | If she first came into heat on Sunday and she goes to the breeder on Thursday you must plan on keeping her there for awhile. If you go by days from first sign of heat it should be at least 10 days before being bred and 12 to 14 days would be better. Very few females will stand for a male after five days. If she does stand then it's most likely you missed the early signs of her being in heat.
There are ovulation timing kits you can buy to take the guess work out, there is one called Premate, 10 tests for about $18. Never have used it so don't know if it's reliable, usually I take the female to the vets for the test or just wait the required days. | |
