Subject: RE: Worms in my garden

Penobsquis, New Brunswick, Canada
earthworms eat the brown skin on the outside of an onjon set. that's why one sees onion sets pushed out of the ground in the spring, they are after the brown skin.

they like leaves, particularily maple (sugar content)

a pile of dry bean waste, with a broken pumpkin on top makes fanastic worm food.

i cover my garden with the bagged leaves from town, in the fall.....bag beside bag, with a few holes on bottom of the bags, and the worms work under the bags. 2 layers of bags and they work all winter. huge amounts of worm castings and worm holes are evident in the spring.

my 2 cents
