I'm gonna make an attempt to answer Chip's question.

+/- 6" accuracy means that the equipment will be within 6" of the correct line with whatever degree of confidence is specified. Most likely either 70% or 90%, if you read hard enough there should be fine print stating their degrees of certainty.

Nobody has ever given any "guarantee" of a certain accuracy. It's just not reasonable. I don't care what system you deal with, including RTK, the accuracy claims are ALWAYS going to list statistical probablities rather then absolutes. It would be foolhearty to make abaolute claims regarding something which simply cannot be absolute.

I'm going to abstain from the debates on technical abilities. I have seen performance which would be very satisfactory for Chip's use, and I have seen performance which would not be so satisfactory. Generally speaking I think guidance is going to outperform an operator driving manually. If you set up similar allowances I believe WAAS DGPS can compete with the average operator without much difficulty.
