Low grip on the pliers, eh Tim? .. I like that one .. I'd use the vice-grips .. set real firm.
My experience suggests you got that one via a link in an email, just click, and they got you.

I run the Maxthon browser, it's fast, tabbed, very clean, lots of options.

http://www.maxthon.com/

one of those options is the ability to TURN OFF ActiveX ..
so you do not get the IE prompt(s) (major PIA)
it will show a 'ActiveX denied' note in the status bar.

If I go to a site I know, and trust, that requires ActiveX .. I use IE.

But, hey, I keep the MS auto updater set to 'disable' under system tools .. it's only needed once a month, and that's when I turn it on, get the updates, then disable it again. That cuts down on the resources used, and takes it away from those with not so good intentions.

It seems every program today wants to run an auto-updater ..
you can run so many of them, nothing else will run .. I turn them all off.
