If it was me you were asking- we use cereal rye. Too far north for rye grass, and ryegrass scares me anyway. We've tried rye ahead of corn in the early 80's. Didn't work because I couldn't get it big enough to kill. I'll be trying a small field again this year, however (soy/rye cover/corn). Generally, always put rye ahead of soys.
