Subject: Re: strip till

SE ND
Mainly N, Urea is what we will be putting in furrow. We also run starter on the planter to supply other nutrients. We are located in SE North Dakota, our soil is quite heavy and leaching has never been a problem, also the unit we are looking at is the dawn coulter unit, there is no knife, since it is a 24 row 22inch i think we would have problems pulling a unit with a knife on it. As for soil test levels I am not exactly sure, lasts years tests aren't available to me at the moment. I was just looking for general information and experience, i realize conditions vary from place to place but it seems to be cutting the N rate goes hand and hand with strip till whenever I hear it talked about. If we were to go this route I am sure we would run test strips at different rates to better understand what works best for us but it never hurts to listen to others experience.
