Subject: RE: Fantastic! Who made the flail shredder?

Malheur County Oregon
The shredder is made by http://www.newhouse-mfg.com/html/shredder.html in Redmond Ore. I guess the reason it's open on the back is so the residue flys out and lays on top and drys better instead of getting forced to the bottom of the furrow and maybe not drying as well??? Never really thought about it. Also the flails are three different lengths to fit over the onions and down in furrow.

The butt rot is caused by ground that has been in a onion rotation for a lot of years and by varietal susceptibility. The other variety in this field is clean as can be. We try to be on a four year rotation with onions.

I will get you some more photos of the shredder and the workings of the topper-loader pokey. If my typing isn't making sense this a.m it because my wife gave the mother of all cases of strep throat and the stupid cat is helping type. I think he gets more words per minute than me
