NW Indiana root crop

Subject: NW Indiana root crop


I was in NW Indiana today near North Judson and Kingsbury. I saw machinery hooked to tractors and in the field, not running, that looked as though it is used to harvest some type of root crop. What are they growing up there? Sugar beets?
