Subject: RE: Outback or Deere GPS, Which one to buy???

Rivers, MB
I'm torn between the 2. I'm running both in my sprayer. JD mapping and guidance and a Outback autosteer. I find that for guidance, the Outback is much easier to use than the original display of JD's. JD's guidance using the GS2 is fairly easy to use but I find the lightbar with the head's up display of Outback's to be more relaxing and easier to drive a nice straight line. On the mapping side, the Outback is a sorry excuse for a mapping program from what I understand. I wanted it in my sprayer but the dealer told me that it would not recognize individual boom sections so it would not show me if a boom was inadvertantly left off. The JD mapping is top notch in my opinion. Combine that with swath control and spraying has become a breeze. If guidance and economy are your number 1 concern, than Outback is the way to go. If you need the mapping and parallel tracking is secondary, then JD is the way to go. That's my 2 cents worth.
