We have been experimenting with a tool to convert polygon based shapefile prescriptions to common proprietary formats painlessly. Well, I don't think we can do it entirely without pain, but it feels like we have come close. The new tool is called EASi Rx, and we are releasing it today. You can run EASi Rx with a powerful UI for casual use, or you can run it in command line mode so that proprietary export format conversion can be incorporated into conventional GIS tools like Arcview and Manifold. We are making EASi Rx available for free evaluation through the end of September. If you find yourself occasionally needing to quickly convert shapefile Rxs to something like a Deere, MidTech, AgLeader, or Agco controller (a controller that doesn't support shapefiles), and want to learn more about this tool, you can visit the EASi Rx web page for more information and example videos. Drop us a note if you want to give it a try. We are prepared to enhance EASi Rx to support conversion of Rx's in grower/farm/field folder hierarchies, and to support a shapefile supplemental metadata file that defines the required product attribute (type and unit of measure) for even greater automation. How we implement these enhancements will be dependent upon the needs of power users that have an interest in the tool. Thanks! We look forward to your feedback. |
