What is the theory or action in the soil to promote the dramatic change?
Does the Calcium displace the Magnesium on the clay & organic matter sites? Does a Magnesium sulfate form and leach out? If so is your ground tiled to allow for the leach water to depart the land?
Does the same action react to release potassium, form potassium sulfate which probably also leaches away?
How does your ammonium fair with this treatment, seeing it is also a cation that attaches to clay and OM that produce the CEC effect.

I ask because I have a problem. My soil has ±7,000 ppm Ca, ±450 ppm K & ± 350 ppm Mg. We are talking about Saturatin levels >90% Ca, with the K & Mg percentages sharing less than 5%.

Here our soil, when dry, is hard and makes clods. When damp, it sticks to implement surfaces.

We are assured our problems are with the nature of clay structure, not of excessive fertility elements.

Not trying to be picky, but am curious as to the theory behind what you are experiencing.

It may also be a case of correlation not proving causation.
