Subject: Re: Dry corn

Martinsville, Ohio
How does moisture correlate to yield this year? Was drydown too much diedown? Was here. Wettest corn is the highest net dry bushels again. Corn finally dried down to 18% here, beans to 8 and 9, told those guys to cut earlier but everyone is afraid of butterbeans and I understand that. But when you lose 2 bu to shatter and 5% moisture, that starts hurting the pocketbook. No easy matter no matter how you go about it.

Conventionals winning here also, highest yields I have checked are non GMO but some were close. Some were way behind. My six year best conventional corn hybrid still beat the newcomers but they get closer and closer.

221 is my best so far and 147 my worst. Beans 52 to 32, all so variable to soil type and moisture farm to farm.

We were a sniff from a disaster.

This crazy year sure makes you wonder what next year will be like...

Old timers calling for a hard winter and most the almanacs are too...

Getting woodpile and cornpile ready to heat the buildings.
