Subject: RE: P-Nut Pics

The Virgina type p-nuts are mostly used for roasting and peanut butter. We pull these nuts off the vine and roast them ourselves. For those who don't know the digger is really just a blade that goes about 1 1/2-2 inches under the plant and is angled so it lifts the nuts out of the ground and the shaker chains pick the vines up and then flip them so the vines are on the dirt and the nuts are on top of the vine. This allows the nuts to dry so we can harvest them. Dutch we have not seen any nuts coming off the vine yet on gregorys but we are a little early on digging ( @ 132 dap). The equipment is made by KMC in tifton Ga. We had good weather untill the 2 cd week in july and they got off to a good start then turned hot and dry. The pic with the tractor in it was irrigated with a center pivot. I will post more pics when I start harvesting
