Decaturville TN
The 63 bu beans were Steyer 4410. I had some Pioneer (number slips my mind) group 4's hit 68 bu/acre. Ya those were the good ole days. Back to reality- I carried some of my 13 bu/acre drought stricken moldy and hard green beans to Cargill NJ today, 11.6% moisture, 30% damage, $1.15 per bushel dock, for a net price of $8.01. That was better than I expected. I don't even want those things in my bins. Got an estimate from a local smaller elevator of $6.00 per bushel. That makes the exta 35 miles ( one way) worth it for $2.00 more per bushel. I'm probably gona haul off some of the crappy beans then store the better ones at home. Ya I used to grow the Delta Pine 5915's but they take too long to get ready. Spray them with Headline and you are looking at Thanksgiving almost. I went to all group 4's 3 years ago and haven't been sorry. They seem to be very consistent in yield for me. Well when it actually rains a little anyway. Rick
