| Not that I want to pay the higher prices but I gotta be realistic. Not counting any seed, MY cost of production went up nearly 20% to put this years crop in (fert., chem., fuel, rent, operating note interest, etc.) Their costs went up the same as mine to put in a seed crop I am sure. Plus the few seed corn growers that I know could have made more money raising a normal corn crop unless the seed companies adjusted their contract accordingly (which they did). Thus they had to pay more on that side also. I personally was figuring on more than a $20/bag on corn and $1.50/bag on soybean increase. So I guess I for one was a little surprised. One thing you can just about rest assured on if their isn't a price increase from whomever your supplier is. You can bet you are getting at least year old warehouse stock. Just my 2 cents worth. | |
