Subject: Suboptimal conditions?

Callao, Missouri
How will the conditions that I listed be suboptimal? The only thing that I see to worry about is that there will be a plow pan and some of the lime will be at the bottom of it (about 1.5" of rain since it was applied). If I mix the fertilizer in, the wheat should begin to make use of it pretty quick, wouldn't it?
Would there be a disease concern going from sod to wheat?

I agree, beans are my first choice for bring ground into production. This year I had a bean field of spring killed sod that had NEVER had beans raised on it. Although it looked very poor all year, they still made 40bu/acre. I was satisfied.

The field in question must be plowed to remove the sprouts that have been brushhogged repeatedly, so I really don't want to leave the ground without cover through the winter, and I really don't want to run my bean head on it for awhile to give the sprouts/stobs time to rot after plowing them out. The field may not raise 60bu wheat, but that's what I need to have to cover the costs. One can always hope.

Thanks for the help.

Scott
