Leesburg, Ohio | Not sure about the "cheaper to operate"...seems to me that it takes the same amount of kilowatt hours to do a given amount of work (run a certain hp motor) whether it's 3 phase or single phase. The part that might be cheaper is if you have a demand charge...starting a large single phase motor would create a higher initial starting surge, creating a higher demand charge than the 3 phase. I would agree with everything else...cheaper motors, cheaper and easier to wire. The worst part of three-phase from the power company is the installation and monthly minimum. A roto-phase solves that problem. | |
