I'm betting on Ed. A couple soil particles will really elevate the test. I've seen this happen several times. We have some sandy soils here in HI with 500+ppm and believe it or not we still see results from using a product called Ironite soil applied.
Seems unlikely that iron is your culprit. Marve has some good suggestions.
