Subject: RE: AutoPilot-like solutions for older equipment

For the Versatile 875 we want to pull the 8-row strip tiller so that needs to be pretty accurate, especially since we plant with a 16 row planter. For the 4840 we need to pull the 16 row planter so that needs to be pretty accurate. We are also sold on the idea of spraying our milo with roundup in the fall to prevent it from using moisture until it freezes and to help it dry down enough to cut it before it lodges. We spray it with our Patriot 150 so eliminating guess rows results in running over much less milo.

Basically the goal is to save money with strip tilling by using NH3 instead of liquid, save money on spraying by having a 2" overlap instead of a 12" overlap and also by not running milo over when the guess row gets a little tight while killing it in the fall.

We don't need to use any of these rigs simultaneously. My understanding is that you can get each machine set up for around 4000 to 4500 and then transfer the NavII controller and antennas from machine to machine so that would be the goal if we went the AutoPilot route. If the AutoPilot doesn't work with the 875 though, it's unlikely we'll go that route.
