Lots of horsepower is a good thing! My laptop has 1 GB of Ram and 100 GB of hard drive. Works very well for many mapping programs that I have installed.
Whatever computer you get - make sure it has at least 1 GB of Ram anf 50 GB hard drive - but more is better. A dedicated computer really is not necessary as you may want to do other things. As well, run Apex 2.0 instead of 1.5 (1.5 is way too slow!!!!).
