SF1 for row crop planting can work if it is within your expectations. What I have noticed in the field is that a SF1 system will work very close to as good as the SF2 system in a straight line steering capabilities. Meaning if you have SF2 and you switch to SF1 your tractor isnt just gonna start steering all over because its less accurate. Accuracy is measured in time frames, how much drift will I be likely to see in a fifteen minute time frame? SF2 says 3-4 inches where as SF1 will drift up to a foot. Does this mean every fifteen minutes its gonna drift a foot? Not necessarily, it only means that it could. Here is what it all boils down too. If you are planting and your field is one mile long and you are traveling 4 miles an hour it will take you fifteen minutes to get to the other end. This being said, if you are using SF1 it is possible for your line to have moved a foot or so to either side. When you look back you will see a very straight line from one end to the other but is it parallel to the last line? So can SF1 work for planting? Yes it can. Can it work for everyone? No.
